Winter Skills (2 Day)

Course dates: Jan 29th-30th,  Feb 5th-6th,  Feb 12th-13th,
Feb 19th-20th, Feb 26th-27th, Mar 5th-6th.

This course is for those that have a level of experience as summer hill walkers and want to gain the skills required to move safely in a winter environment.

Course Overview

You will be in a group of no more than six with one instructor. Meeting your instructor the evening before provides an opportunity to discuss yours and the other participants experiences and aspirations. This enables the instructor to plan the weekend’s programme based around the main topics to be covered as conditions etc allow.

These are:

  • Selection and organisation of personal kit appropriate to winter hillwalking.
  • Personal movement skills on snow including kicking steps and using the ice axe for walking, self-belay, cutting steps and self-arrest.
  • Use of crampons in ascent/descent.
  • Emergency procedures including digging and use of emergency shelters.
  • Avalanche awareness and safe route choice.
  •  Winter Navigation Techniques

Cost       £180.00 per person (based on Four Clients)

Coire An T-Sneachda

 Winter Skills (5 Day)

Course Dates: Feb 7th-11th, Feb 14th-18th, Feb 21st-25th,          Feb 28th-Mar 4th.

The 5 day course is an extension of the skills that are learnt on the 2 day course, however because of the time available we can observe the weather and deliver the content of the course accordingly.

Course Overview

As above but with much more emphasis on the skills due to the time available. There is also potentially an option of a mini expedition on the last 2 days with an overnight in a snow hole however this is really dependent on weather conditions.

Cost       £380.00 per person (Based on Four Clients)

(prices are not inclusive of equipment, travel, accomodation and food. However, we are able to organise any of this should you require it.)

Great Glen Canoe Journey

Dates: Apr 11th-15th, May 10th-16th, June 6th-10th.

We have been running this trip for youth groups for the last 7 years. When the kids get home and tell their parents what a great time they have had the usual comment is “there was nothing like that when I was at school”, Well you might not be at school but you can do it now. The trip takes 5 days to paddle and you spend four nights camping.

This is a great way to spend some time with your family and, or friends in some spectacular scenery on one of the classic canoe journeys of the UK. We provide everything apart from your own clothes, sleeping bag and food although we can provide any one or all of these.

Give us a call to discuss any queries you have.

Cost £450.00 per person (Based on four clients)
